Pomegranates break in January, records in February! Hawaii University- Ball State: The 1st Civil War of 2022!
Another strong week for the boys with new personal records. Starting with the Greeks of Hawaii, where they had new season and personal highs with 21 kills and 10 digs for Mouchlias and 15 kills for Chakas. A few days later, Chakas set another new record for aces with 7! Season and personal high for Kalagasidis with 51 assists in the big victory against HIU! Gkitersos also made his first appearance with the new team!
While the last week of January left a bitter taste for Hawaii University (7-2), February started very energetically! After 2 defeats against Mandilaris' Ball State with 3-0 and 3-2, the Rainbow Warriors managed to get 3 consecutive victories against FDU (3-0), Queens (3-0) and Stanford (3-1) . Angelos Mandilaris
With a positive record, 3 wins and 1 defeat, Mandilaris's Ball State (6-1) continues its season, now preparing for their first conference match next week. On January 29th and 31st, the Cardinals faced # 1 University of Hawaii where they won in 3 and 5, offering an amazing spectacle to the fans who were watching. Mandilaris once again showed that he perfrorms better under pressure playing with the # 1 of the USA, having 14 kills, 3 blocks and 3 digs in the first match and 25 kills, 1 ace, 3 blocks and 9 digs in the second. Then, on February 4th and 5th, they faced Brigham Young University where they lost in 5 and won in 4. The graduate assistant from Chalkida participated only in the first match recording 6 kills and 1 dig.
