“My name is Dimitra Zacharopoulou and I am the first born child of a four member family who reside in Athens. From a young child my parents motivated me to pursue a career/hobby in the world of athletics in order to experience and perceive the unprecedented feelings that only athletics can offer. Following the advice of my parents and continuing the family tradition (my mother was member who competed in fin swimming third place in world championship) I decided to continue my school career together with my avocation in volley ball.
From the age of 9 I have been a member of U16 whose main goal has and still is to attain crowning achievement and distinction at a Panhellenic level. With the help of both my family and coaches I have attained the position as a member in the aforementioned team.

As recognition for my collective efforts, I had the honor of taking part in the National Team U16. I am convinced that in order to attain a well-rounded character and personality in this composite and globalized world, the engagement in sport is not enough for a young individual. A combination of both studies and a professional adequacy, together with perspective in the career field that the young person has chosen are also mandatory.
Progressing, with the morals, ethics and philosophy on life that have been instilled in me not only by my parents but also teachers and professors, I am currently studying at Moraitis School where I received an honorary scholarship as distinguished athlete. Accordingly, I have determined that your benevolent country, with its civilization, history and outstanding facilities is ideal in order to progress and support the realization of my dream to attend university and become an exceptional athlete.
Recognizing my personality traits and having the full support of my family, together with your generous contribution, I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that if you acknowledge my qualities, both as a person and athlete, I will do my utmost to reciprocate in the increasing expectations and demands you set for the integration into university life in America.
